This year, “new” seems to be a reoccurring theme for the Arabian softball team this year. Along with a fresh new season and brand new jerseys, the team has also received a brand new head coach.
At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, head coach Traci Blackman moved to a new school district, thus leaving her position vacant. This year, Assistant Principal Steve Anderson will take over the responsibility as head coach.
“I’ve been anxious to get out there and work with these girls,” Mr. Anderson said. “I’m also looking forward to trying to continue the successful program established 19 years ago.”
Last years squad brought home the district championship and with only one senior not returning to play, expectations are at an all-time high.
“Since we only had one senior leave last year our team will be stronger than ever. This team has very good work habits,” junior Casey Montalvo said.
The Arabians’ season will begin Monday, Jan. 28 when they Scrimmage the Bandera Lady Bulldogs.
“I’m really looking forward to our scrimmage against Bandera,” Casey said. “Hopefully the NEW season will be the beginning of a successful year”
