That time of year has rolled around and DHS tennis has begun and the team traveled down south for a scrimmage against the fighting Yellow Jackets of Sabinal.
“The team looked like they really had a bunch of potential after the scrimmage last Wednesday,” senior Jason Jaworowski said.
Jason has been on the varsity squad beginning his freshman year. Now that he is a senior he has high hopes and wants his last year to be his best.
“This year will be my last year on the tennis team for my friends and I,” Jason said. “I plan on going out with a bang by advancing to regionals and possibly state.”
As Jason goes through each meet he will keep his mind set on a reason to win.
“My senior year will be completely dedicated to my good friend D.J Carlson,” Jason said. “D.J was always a great competitor at anything he did. If I could give half the effort he did in his sports, the sky is the limit.”
DJ Carlson was a 2012 graduate of Devine High School and passed away late last year.
