With another school year, comes another volleyball season. Coming off a successful season last year, the 2012 team has big shoes to fill, but they were up to the challenge. With only four seniors on the team, the expectation to succeed does not change.
“We have a very young team this year, but the way we’ve been playing doesn’t show it. We’ve come together as a team and we’re ready for the chance to win district,” senior Ashtyn Dougherty said.
In non-district play, the Arabians went 5-7 not including tournaments. But in the annual Arabian Round-Up, they placed fourth even with stiff competition. Despite of their record, the young Arabian team is explosive and exciting to watch. They opened up district against Hondo last Friday and came up with a huge win in 5 sets to start off district 1-0. The girls traveled to Crystal City Tuesday, scores were not available at time of press.
