The Devine Warhorses and Arabians cross-country teams have been hard at work. It is already half way through the season and the teams and individuals have brought home plenty of hardware.
“The team has been working real hard and it is starting to pay off,” junior John Hernandez said.
At the last meet senior Joseph Espinosa and Hernandez both placed second and third. These two high finishes lead the team to a second place finish as a whole.
“We are peaking at the right time,” Espinosa said. “It’s the second part of the season and district is coming up soon.”
Due to a rule changes the girls team had to compete in a meet where they had to run three miles instead of two.
“The three miles was tough, I’m glad that I don’t have to run it again,” junior Kendall Nelson said.
Devine only has four more meets before district. The team has their first district preview meet this Saturday, Sept. 27.
“This is our first meet where we will get to look at our district competition,” Espinosa said, “So everyone come out and support our team as we stampede through Hondo Texas.”
