Band Competition Saturday

Noah Davila, Coeditor in chief

This Saturday, the warhorse band will be competing in Fredericksburg at the Hill Country Marching Festival. On September 25, they will perform their show Finding Unity to a panel of judges along with 18 other schools. Devine did not compete in this, or any other competitions last year due to covid.
“Ive been to this competitions three times already and it’s still nerve racking,” Senior Lilly Hargis said. “But I’m still exciting. It’s great to see where we are in the season.”
The band began learning their show in July and have been practicing every weekday since.
“It feels great to be going again,” Senior Brian Schaefer said. “We’ve been preparing our show since this summer and this is what it’s come up too. We usually do very good at this festival and we’re hoping for the same this year.”
The band will be judged on criteria such as marching, music, execution, and drum majors. The top three bands of each classification will be awarded, along with an overall top band.
“Everyone has pushed hard to get to the point where we have all three parts of our show on the field and I am very proud of the effort given thus far, Head Director Jeff Miller said. “This will be one of two Festivals we will compete in against other 4A Bands, so it will be a great adventure as we work ourselves toward Region UIL on October 16th and hopefully advance toward State.”
Our band will perform at 6:30 P.M. Anyone can come to support the band for a $5 admission fee.
