CC Runners Head to State

This year the Warhorse and Arabian cross country teams did exceptionally well, both advancing to regionals in Corpus Christi as a team. The girls placed 7 out of 33 teams, and the boys 5 out of 33 teams. Although the Arabians and Warhorses did not advance to state as a team, individual runners seniors Brianna Bowyer, senior Xavier Garza, and freshman Katelyn Joslin will be advancing to state on Nov. 24.

Each individual grew immensely throughout the season and contributed to the year as a whole.

“The teams did fantastic this year, they worked really hard and I can’t wait to see what the three do at state,” Coach Hannah Thompson said.

This year marks senior Xavier Garza’s second year advancing to state.

“I am very excited for state. All of my hard work and dedication paid off,” Garza said. “Ever since last year’s  state meet, I have been focused and determined to make it again.”

Over the course of Bowyer’s four years as a runner for the Arabians, she has worked hard to get to this point in her career.

“I have always set my goals high as a runner, and my top goal was to make it to state individually after falling two places short last year,” Bowyer said. “Now I am going to go and finish what I’ve worked for all of this time.”

This being their last season, seniors Bowyer and Garza have unfinished business and continue to prepare themselves for state.
