FCCLA goes to Zephyr
November 7, 2016
Members of Devine FCCLA traveled to Camp Zephyr to attend a Fall Leadership Workshop. This training allowed students from surrounding schools to meet one another and go through five different tracts. Theses tracts helped the students to improve and learn different things about FCCLA and life events.
“Fall Leadership Workshops are a great opportunity for students to see what all FCCLA has to offer,” FCCLA Advisor Emily Cunningham said. “Not only do students get to meet other students from different schools, but they get to experience what their Region Meeting in January will be like.”
Students also participated Family and Consumer Sciences Assessments, in the areas of: Consumer Math, Fashion Design, Etiquette, Child Development, and Step One. These FCSA’s where to test the knowledge of the students in these areas and reward them with a certificate.
“I took the child development test. The experience was cool because I got to test my knowledge of one of my classes that I took,” junior Alison Crouch said. “I also enjoyed the different people that I got to meet while waiting to take my test. I got to sit with people from different schools and learn about what they do and experience as an FCCLA member at their school.”
During the tracts the students from 20 surrounding schools got to learn and interact with each other by participating in different presentations, games, and activities that officers of different schools came up with.
“ It was a great experience getting to spend time with my peers and also so many different people from surrounding schools,” junior Serena Monreal said. “I enjoyed getting to know about different people and what their FCCLA organization does in their home town.”
