With key players set to return, Devine looks to turn lessons from a tough 1–4 start into momentum for the heart of the season.
The Warhorse football program battles through an overwhelming wave of injuries, but the team’s resilience remains strong. With multiple starters expected to return before district competition, coaches and players are confident that the early-season challenges will fuel a stronger, more determined push.
Riley: Today, we’re going to be talking about the recent injuries in football and how they’ve been affecting everyone, and mostly what the injuries are. So, let’s get to it.
Riley: DHS, I’m Riley.
Cole: And I’m Cole.
Riley: Today, we’re here with Karter. Karter, how do you feel about tonight?
Karter: Feel great. We won. We won.
Riley: You gonna play good?
Karter: Yeah, I’m gonna play great.
Riley: How many passing touchdowns?
Karter: Uh, probably one. Probably one.
Riley: One. That’s good.
Cole: One rushing touchdown, too. Don’t sleep on Karter.
Karter: That felt great.
Cole: Yeah, I think we had, what, around 80 passing yards? Somewhere around there. A touchdown that did get called back, sadly. That was a great ball. How did it feel when you threw that?
Karter: Sorry. Some people just need to grow up, actually. Felt good. Penalties are something that we can fix, so it didn’t bother me that much.
Riley: And you did suffer an injury that game. How did that feel?
Karter: Yeah. Well, number 58 didn’t block his guy, and TJ — that would be me moving — and he speared me into the ground. Lost part of my ear, but you know, we don’t pass blame in this program, so I’m really not worried about it.
Riley: Thank you, DHS.
Cole: DHS, unfortunately, we’re talking — uh, Cole was talking about the story about Karter, how his ear— but he broke his knee, so he is not here. So we’ll just moment of silence for Cole and come back to the story.
Riley: I’m here with Trystan Leon and Cole Re. Um, I heard both y’all are not permanently but temporarily hurt. Uh, Cole, what was your experience? What happened during that?
Cole: Uh, we were playing Jeron. I got the ball, and I went to cut and just blew my knee out.
Riley: And how about you? I’m here with Trystan Lefar, of course. So I know both of y’all are temporarily hurt, but, um, Cole, what was your experience? What happened?
Cole: Uh, we were playing Drenton and got my first carry of the year, and I went to cut and just blew my right knee out.
Riley: And Trystan, how about you?
Trystan: Uh, something decided to just fall on my knee while I was trying to make a tackle, and I just felt it pop, and I knew immediately something was wrong.
Riley: Well, there you have it. I hope y’all feel better, guys.
Cole and Trystan: Thank you.
